Climate Advocate

Position Summary

Evergreen seeks a full-time Climate Advocate to help design and implement our Congressional and Administrative advocacy. This position will implement Evergreen's engagement with Capitol Hill and the Administration in support of our bold policy vision. The primary responsibilities will include working with the policy team to develop and advocate for policy products that dovetail with the clean energy standards, federal investments, and prioritization of environmental justice approaches to federal climate policy. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of government, experience in legislation, policy research and analysis, a deep understanding of climate policy, and 3-5+ years experience working on federal climate policy or politics, ideally including Hill experience. 

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Develop and manage Evergreen’s strategic engagement and relationships with lawmakers in Congress and in the federal administration
  • Work alongside allied organizations to shape federal legislative and regulatory policy advocacy
  • Draft and execute multipurpose policy content and advocacy campaign plans in collaboration with our digital and communications teams
  • Research existing and new legislation as it relates to Evergreen policy priorities

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability   

  • Experience working in government, non-profit, or campaign setting is preferred  
  • Excellent research and writing skills 
  • Demonstrated understanding of climate policy and the advocacy landscape
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team, under tight deadlines 
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail 
  • Self-motivated and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and see them through to completion
  • Ability to work well with partner organizations
  • Government and/or Hill experience is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $72,000-$84,000 

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, 3% employer match retirement account and paid holidays, vacation, sick, and volunteer time off.
