Evergreen: Biden Budget Must Be Paired With $555B In Climate Investments Through Reconciliation

In response to the release of President Biden’s FY2023 Budget, Evergreen Action Executive Director Jamal Raad released the following statement:

“President Biden’s FY2023 budget is a stark reminder of the urgency of delivering transformative climate investments through reconciliation. While the investments in clean energy, resilience, environmental justice, and international climate finance outlined in the budget are an important step towards delivering a whole-of-government response to climate change, they are only a small fraction of what is needed to fulfill the president’s climate commitments, stave off the worst impacts of this crisis, and build a thriving clean energy economy for all.

“As reconciliation negotiations continue in Congress, President Biden and Democratic leadership must prioritize the $555 billion in climate and clean energy investments from the House-passed reconciliation bill and secure a deal that can receive 50 votes in the Senate. These investments will get us back on track to meet the president’s climate goals and help deliver real energy security to the American people by investing in affordable, reliable, American-made clean energy. Without them, the president’s budget would be woefully inadequate. To meet this moment, President Biden must deliver a deal before Memorial Day.”
