After Kneecapping Clean Energy, Trump Announces Billions for Polluters in Pennsylvania

After enacting historically damaging legislation undermining our grid earlier this month, Donald Trump and Sen. Dave McCormick unveiled a plan to double down on expensive fossil fuels at the inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh today. The announcement follows a recent string of moves by the Trump administration to curtail clean energy programs and infrastructure development for a resilient, affordable energy future. In response, Evergreen Action Deputy State Policy Director Julia Kortrey released the following statement:

“Pennsylvanians are already facing an energy affordability crisis. But Donald Trump and Dave McCormick just cut off their cheapest, fastest tool to add new generation to the grid. Slashing clean energy programs while supercharging demand with new data centers will drive up costs and worsen grid stability in a region already grappling with mounting price hikes. You can’t claim to build the grid of the future while tearing down the very tools needed to power it. It’ll mean higher electricity bills, more air pollution, and fewer good-paying clean energy jobs.

“If Trump were serious about lowering costs and building real energy security, he wouldn’t be sabotaging Pennsylvania’s clean energy economy. This isn’t about innovation—it’s about propping up polluters at the expense of people. And Pennsylvanians will be stuck paying the price.”
