Tonight, after a federal judge invalidated the largest offshore oil and gas lease sale in the nation’s history, Evergreen Action Chief of Staff Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“In order to achieve our climate goals, we must end our addiction to fossil fuels and supercharge our transition to clean energy. President Biden ran, and won, on ending all new fossil fuel leases on public lands—the federal government can no longer rubber stamp the status quo on fossil fuels. The Biden administration has set ambitious goals and made tackling the climate crisis a central component of their executive agenda. The decision today makes it clear that climate change must also be central to their decision-making on public lands leasing. We applaud this verdict and hope this portends a future where our public lands and waters are protected from all future fossil fuel extraction, as we continue building a clean energy economy.”
