Evergreen: Joseph Goffman Is The Right Person To Lead OAR

In advance of the nomination hearing of Joseph Goffman for the role of Assistant Administrator at the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Evergreen Action Chief of Staff Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“In an era when millions of people die prematurely every year due to toxic air pollution and the worsening climate crisis, it’s imperative that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has experienced leadership focused on effective enforcement of the Clean Air Act. Joseph Goffman has the expertise and commitment needed to lead the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR), and his nomination is a hopeful step toward ensuring that the agency can deliver on its mission to protect human health and the environment.

“As one of our nation’s bedrock environmental laws, the Clean Air Act has already saved hundreds of thousands of American lives and successfully reduced air pollution across the country. But in order to remain effective, we need strong leadership at EPA and OAR committed to comprehensively addressing pollution. Mr. Goffman is the right man for the job, and the members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee should advance his nomination without delay.”
