ONE YEAR IN: With Important Headway Made on Leveraging His Executive Authorities, Biden Must Expand On That Momentum In Year Two

On the one-year signing anniversary of President Biden’s slate of executive actions to combat the climate crisis, Evergreen Action Executive Director Jamal Raad released the following statement:

“A year ago, President Biden put pen to paper committing his administration to an all-of-government approach to defeat the climate crisis—an important first step in setting the standard for bold climate action. As he continues into the second year of his term, he must remain committed to delivering on aggressive executive action. The administration has taken important steps over the past year, and they must build on that momentum as they work to fulfill the president’s commitments.

“To meet the bold climate commitments that the president put forward one year ago, the administration must raise its ambition to reduce climate pollution through executive action in each of the most polluting sectors of the economy and use the full power of his bully pulpit to ensure swift passage of the Build Back Better Act. Pairing his bold agenda for executive action with the transformative climate investments contained in the Build Back Better Act will allow President Biden to make good on his important climate commitments. And above all else, it will allow this president to meet the moment of the defining crisis of our era, securing his legacy as someone who took decisive action at a crucial moment in our history.”
