The Build Back Better Act Will Help Deliver Affordable Clean Energy To Every American

In anticipation of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis hearing on Cleaner, Cheaper Energy, Evergreen Action Campaigns Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“For too long, working families have been subject to the whims of volatile oil and gas markets and the fossil fuel industry. And this winter, once again, skyrocketing fossil fuel prices are putting a financial strain on households across America. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

“Renewables are already the world’s cheapest source of electricity. In fact, prices for wind and solar have declined consistently for the last decade. With the transformative investments in the Build Back Better Act we can make progress to ensure every household has access to affordable, reliable clean energy—and save the American people billions on their home energy bills.

“The historic clean energy investments in the BBBA are a win for the climate and our bank accounts. The Senate must act quickly to meet Senator Schumer’s Christmas deadline and deliver long term relief from fossil fuel-driven energy price spikes to families across the country.”

This week, Evergreen released Clean Energy Is Cheap Energy, detailing how the Build Back Better Act will drive down energy costs for consumers by making transformative investments in clean energy and electrification. According to an analysis from the Rocky Mountain institute, the clean energy incentives in the BBBA can save ratepayers $9 billion a year by 2030.
