Time’s Up On Bad Faith GOP Infrastructure Negotiations

Senate Republicans Ran Out The Clock With Unacceptable Infrastructure Plans That Included $0 For Clean Energy

Following the Memorial Day deadline set by the White House for bipartisan infrastructure negotiations, Evergreen Action Executive Director Jamal Raad released the following statement:

“President Biden’s Memorial Day deadline has come and gone, and after weeks of negotiations, Senate Republicans have proven that they have no interest in passing the infrastructure package that we need. Instead, they’ve wasted more than a month of precious time offering paper-thin proposals that would move us backwards in the fight against climate change and sink President Biden’s commitments to invest in environmental justice and a thriving clean energy economy. It’s time to move on and advance the full American Jobs Plan—with a majority vote.

“The American people sent President Biden and Congressional Democrats to Washington to take real action to address the most important challenges we face, and the American Jobs Plan was built to do exactly that. But at every step of the way in these negotiations, Republicans have made it clear that they’re more interested in arguing about semantics and delaying action than delivering a real recovery. We can’t afford to wait any longer to tackle the climate crisis, environmental injustice, and the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
