Trump Pressures Hochul to Revive Rejected Gas Project

Today, the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) is considering the Williams Northeast Supply Enhancement Project (NESE) pipeline following talks earlier this year between Governor Hochul and the Trump administration. In response, Evergreen Action Vice President for States Justin Balik released the following statement:

“Donald Trump is once again using mob tactics to resurrect dirty, dangerous gas projects that New York already rejected for good reason. Governor Hochul has gone toe to toe with Trump on key issues and won. That’s what should be happening here. Instead, New York is poised to give into Trump’s extortion. The NESE pipeline was denied because it threatened New York’s air, water, and communities. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is Trump twisting Hochul’s arm and cutting bad-faith backroom deals. This pipeline would lock the state into decades of pollution, deepen the harm to communities already burdened by fossil fuel infrastructure, and saddle New Yorkers with the bill. Revisiting this project isn’t just dangerous—it’s a betrayal of New Yorkers and a giveaway to the corporate polluters already profiting off the Trump administration.”
