Trump’s EPA Moves to Blackout Solar and Hike Energy Costs for Working Families

In response to the news that Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is preparing to cancel $7 billion in Solar for All grants illegally, Evergreen Action Senior Policy Director Rachel Patterson released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and Lee Zeldin are once again trying to illegally claw back clean energy funds that Congress already appropriated and communities are already using to lower energy bills. The Solar for All program funding was awarded through a competitive, transparent process to bring rooftop and community solar to over 900,000 low-income households. Now, Trump’s EPA is sabotaging the fastest, cheapest solution we have to rising energy costs—all to protect fossil fuel profits. It’s an outrageous abuse of power and a blatant violation of the law.

“Rooftop solar can be deployed in days, not years. It’s exactly the kind of affordable, fast-to-build power we need as record heat and power-hungry data centers push the grid to its limits. But instead of helping Americans get relief, Trump’s EPA is jacking up costs, undermining our clean energy industry, and threatening to destabilize the grid. Congress made the law. The Biden administration followed it. Trump’s EPA has no authority to reverse it.
