From denying the facts of the 2020 election to denying the scientific consensus on climate change, Mike Johnson carries forward a proud tradition of Republicans who are entirely out of touch with reality. The new speaker has proven time and again that he’s in lockstep with fossil interests, despite being from a state on the front line of sea level rise and environmental injustices inflicted by the oil and gas industry. As the Republican majority continues to manufacture its own chaos, Johnson’s election to one of the highest offices in Congress is sadly no surprise. The MAGA GOP’s parade of ineptitude carries on, to the detriment of the American people and the future of our democracy.”
