Yesterday, Trump took to Truth Social to post yet another callous comment about his views on data centers, writing: “The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor. If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign.”

In response, Evergreen Action Federal Affairs Director Dani Hupper released the following statement:

“Trump has once again shown the American people that he doesn’t care about their voices if they oppose his allies in Big Tech from building massive data centers in their communities. Instead, his belittling message to families is that they should simply accept higher costs and more pollution, or be labeled ‘backwards and poor.’

“Data centers can demand enough energy to power a small city. It is, in fact, smart for residents to ask questions and raise concerns before deciding whether they want one built in their backyard. The federal government should be prioritizing the needs of local communities and requiring Big Tech to pay its fair share of energy costs, not leave ratepayers to pick up the tab.”
