In response to the news that Donald Trump is welcoming more than a dozen Big Oil executives to the White House this afternoon to discuss his “energy dominance” agenda, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:
“Trump’s so-called ‘energy dominance’ agenda is nothing more than a thinly veiled scheme to enrich his Big Oil friends at the expense of American families. Today, he’s meeting behind closed doors with fossil fuel executives while his administration is actively sabotaging the cheapest and fastest growing power sources on the grid. He can’t claim ‘energy dominance’ while shutting out wind and solar projects.
“Trump’s energy agenda isn’t about lowering costs or strengthening American energy. It’s about rigging the system for the corporate polluters who bankrolled his campaign. Meanwhile, clean energy is fueling a once-in-a-generation manufacturing renaissance and making America more energy independent than ever. The future of energy is here, but Trump is hell-bent on dragging us backward to do favors for Big Oil.”
