In response to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) announcement that the Senate will vote to proceed on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) this Saturday, Evergreen Action Executive Director Jamal Raad released the following statement:
“With deadly extreme weather events bearing down on Americans across the country, climate action can’t wait. That’s why it is encouraging to see Majority Leader Schumer commit to advancing the Inflation Reduction Act this Saturday. While this bill is a compromise with some truly troubling provisions, it’s also essential. After a year and a half of negotiations, we are finally on the precipice of passing historic climate and clean energy investments into law that will cut costs for working families, create millions of jobs, and make historic progress in the fight against climate change. Let’s get this done.”
