Interior’s Fowl Play Is Another Laughably Transparent Attempt to Kill the Wind Power Industry

In response to the news that Trump’s Interior Department has thrown up yet another barrier to wind energy, this time by indulging Trump’s bizarre, bird-related conspiracy theories, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“This is just the latest laughably transparent attempt to dress up Trump’s weird personal vendetta against wind turbines as some kind of environmental concern. If Burgam’s bad-faith stunt had anything to do with protecting the environment, he’d be focused on slowing the spiraling climate crisis. The Audubon Society—actual bird experts—supports expanding wind energy because they know climate change is the real threat to wildlife.

“Climate-fueled disasters are already destroying ecosystems and pushing many species toward extinction, while killing thousands of people each year. But instead of addressing the very real threat that’s putting wildlife and human lives at risk, Trump’s Interior Department is inventing excuses to block one of the cheapest, fastest-to-build energy sources we’ve got. While Trump’s war on wind rages on, more families will suffer from higher utility bills, lost jobs, and climate-fueled tragedies. Let’s be clear: They don’t care about protecting wildlife; they care about protecting fossil fuel profits—no matter the cost.
