In response to today’s reporting that the Trump administration’s recent $1.2 billion deal to cancel offshore wind projects and boost the fossil fuel industry is going directly to the wallet of one his top donors, Evergreen Action Federal Affairs Director Dani Hupper released the following statement:
“Trump’s latest scheme to kill clean energy projects and redirect nearly a billion dollars back to one of his own donors is one of the clearest signals yet of blatant corruption in the White House. This isn’t an energy strategy, it’s a gift to Trump’s Big Oil allies at the expense of families who are currently facing historically high gas and electricity prices.
“This is not the first time Trump’s energy agenda has put the priorities of Big Oil first, but this backroom deal using taxpayer dollars demonstrates how the president is willing to make Americans pay more for energy so that his wealthy allies can profit. We deserve energy policies that will lower costs, not force us to foot the bill for Trump’s political favors.”
