Maryland Voters Send Moore Back to Annapolis with Mandate to Deliver Cheap, Clean Energy

Nov 3, 2026

Today, Governor Wes Moore defeated Dan Cox to secure a second term in office. In response, Evergreen States Program Vice President Eric Miller released the following statement:

“Tonight, voters across Maryland rejected Dan Cox’s dirty coal and fossil-fuel powered agenda and sent a loud message that the Old Line State’s future should be built on cheap, clean energy.

“Congratulations to Governor Moore on his re-election to a second term. At a time when Donald Trump and leaders in Washington are prioritizing Big Tech billionaires and utility profits, Governor Moore has stepped in to deliver protections for Maryland families. The Governor’s crucial executive order outlining responsible and transparent data center development, including a first-of-its-kind data center development dashboard, sets a standard that Big Tech will not be allowed to pass their costs on to Maryland families. Evergreen looks forward to continuing our work with the Governor, his administration and partners to lower utility bills for Maryland families and bring more cheap, clean energy to the grid.”
