Yesterday, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced executive action to codify guardrails for responsible and transparent data center development. The executive order includes establishing a first-of-its-kind data center dashboard that will serve as a record of project development, and facility power and water usage.
In response, Evergreen Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Director Catherine Zingg released the following statement:
“At a time of record profits for Big Tech Billionaires, Governor Moore sent a strong message that data center development in Maryland will not come at the expense of our environment or the wallets of Maryland families struggling to keep up with the rising cost of electricity.
“We applaud Governor Moore’s bold leadership to deliver critical protections for our environment and ratepayers. We look forward to continuing to work with the Governor, his administration, and partners to ensure data center development in Maryland is transparent, responsible, and powered by new, clean energy.”
