Governor Shapiro Signs Executive Order Ensuring Data Centers Won’t Get Free Ride in Pennsylvania

Today, Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order making his GRID (Governor’s Responsible Infrastructure Development) Standards legally binding on data center developers seeking to operate in Pennsylvania. In response, Evergreen Action Interim Vice President for States Eric Miller released the following statement:

“Today, Governor Shapiro delivered for Pennsylvanians and the environment by making his GRID Standards the law of the land. By making these standards legally enforceable, the Governor is ensuring data centers pay their own way, create a pathway for new clean-firm energy resources in the Commonwealth, and fulfill Pennsylvania’s constitutional mandate to protect clean air and water. Pennsylvanians and the environment deserve nothing less.”
