In response to today’s federal court ruling ordering the Trump Administration to end its ongoing illegal efforts to stall onshore wind projects at the Pentagon, Evergreen Action Federal Affairs Director Dani Hupper released the following statement:
“Today’s court order is a crucial check on the Trump Administration’s abuse of power to block the cheapest, cleanest, and fastest energy sources that would deliver lower costs for American families. This Administration has used every weapon in its arsenal to circumvent the law in service of its Big Oil allies, including weaponizing once-routine Pentagon reviews as a pretext to shut down onshore wind permitting entirely. The result: locking out cheap renewable energy sources so that fossil fuel executives can keep raking in profits that come directly from working families’ bank accounts.
“Over 100 projects have been stalled for months, costing billions of dollars and putting hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk. At a time when Americans are paying record-high gas prices and utility bills, the last thing they need is their government using bureaucratic roadblocks to keep affordable energy off the grid. Today’s ruling is an important step, but we need lasting policy changes to prevent Trump’s ideological war on wind from blocking clean energy that could lower costs and strengthen the grid.”
