Victory for Michigan Ratepayers: Federal Court Overturns Trump’s Coal Bailout

In response to the U.S. District Circuit Court for the District of Columbia ruling to overturn the Trump administration’s emergency order that forced utilities to keep the J.H. Campbell coal plant online after its planned closure, Evergreen Action Midwest Senior Regional Director Courtney Brady released the following statement:

“This ruling is a victory for Michiganders who have been forced to pay to keep this dirty plant on life support. Trump’s bogus emergency order cost ratepayers $600,000 for every day the Campbell plant was online past its expiration date. We are grateful to have allies who are taking the fight to Trump in the courts and winning major victories for clean air and cheaper energy.”
