1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY: Biden’s Ability to Deliver on Climate Will Define His Legacy

One Year In, President Biden Has Made Meaningful Progress On His Bold Campaign Climate Promises, But Year Two Will Be Defining to His Legacy

On the the one-year anniversary of President Biden’s inauguration Evergreen Action Executive Director Jamal Raad released the following statement:

“After one year with Joe Biden in office, America has turned the corner from the Trump years—but we have a long way to go to fulfill the promise of the president’s climate agenda. The president has taken important strides to move the ball forward on the bold climate agenda that he ran, and won on. But to meet the demands of this moment—the demands of a climate crisis that waits for no one—President Biden must be prepared to do much more, much faster, in year two.

“Our nation faces a climate crisis which is causing billions of dollars in damages to American communities and threatening our chance at a liveable future. The president must make it his top priority to work with Congress to pass the transformative climate and clean energy provisions in the Build Back Better Act. How President Biden delivers on his bold climate promises in 2022, with a majority in Congress at his back, will be the defining legacy of his presidency. We cannot afford to fail.”
