Powering a Clean Future for Pennsylvania

Pennsylvanians want affordable, clean energy that makes our grid stronger and communities cleaner. We’re working with state advocates and policymakers to build a thriving, just clean energy future across the Commonwealth.
Key Goals For Pennsylvania

Diversify and strengthen our grid with clean energy

Modernize and strengthen our grid

Break down barriers to transportation affordability

Build clean energy faster by reforming siting, permitting, and interconnection

  • What is happening to electricity bills in Pennsylvania?

Pennsylvania electric bills have been skyrocketing thanks to mismanagement of the power grid and rapid data center growth. PJM Interconnection (and its utility, generator, and transmission owner members) controls the electric power grid in 13 states including Pennsylvania. Its decisions influence how much you pay on your electric bill every month. But mismanagement by PJM is set to spike electric bills almost 60 percent over the next 10 to 15 years. Antiquated processes and the prioritization of utility and energy CEO profits over consumers have led to this energy cost crisis.

Read about the four key reforms that can prevent this massive price hike.

    Featured Pieces

  • The PJM region is at a tipping point: household electricity costs are skyrocketing, and affordable, clean energy is stuck in limbo. But PJM’s broken approval process is a massive barrier to progress. Low-cost wind and solar projects are ready and waiting—what’s missing is action.

    Why Pennsylvania Matters

Pennsylvania is at a crossroads. As the third-largest greenhouse gas emitter in the nation and a key energy-producing state, its choices will shape the country’s climate future. By leading on clean energy, Pennsylvania can create cleaner air, thousands of good-paying jobs, and lower energy costs. Evergreen is working alongside advocates, lawmakers, and communities to turn ambition into real climate progress and ensure an affordable, thriving future for all Pennsylvanians.

    Key Recommendations

  • Diversify and strengthen the grid with clean energy and storage
  • Lower household electricity costs by accelerating clean energy deployment
  • Reform siting for solar, wind, storage, and transmission
  • Invest in clean energy workforce training and union jobs
  • Support mass transit funding across the state
  • Showing Up for Pennsylvania

Nothing gets done unless we’re working together, which is why we’re coordinating with allies across Pennsylvania, including labor and industry partners, to develop and advocate for smart clean energy policy that helps working families in the Keystone State.
