To mark the one-year anniversary of Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” being signed into law on July 4, and an administration-imposed deadline that cuts off developers from applying for key clean energy tax credits, Evergreen Action Federal Affairs Director Dani Hupper released the following statement:

“Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ has proven beautiful for exactly one constituency: the Big Oil executives cashing bigger checks while Americans pay more for household costs like electricity and fuel. As the nation marks its 250th birthday, Trump is intentionally obstructing clean energy projects that could have powered 17 million homes and nearly 144,000 jobs, and has pursued policies that have sent energy prices soaring more than five times faster than the overall cost of living over the past year.

“Not satisfied with killing the clean energy tax credits that were quickly and cheaply adding much-needed new power to the grid, Trump piled on with executive actions to further sabotage the sector responsible for the vast majority of new energy brought online last year. As a result, even fewer projects will come online as demand skyrockets, making it harder than ever for families to power their homes and cars and make ends meet.

“Now Trump is pointing fingers at the same Big Oil companies he spent the last year making richer. Americans aren’t fooled. When you hand the keys to fossil fuel executives and gut every tool designed to keep electricity affordable, rising prices aren’t a mystery. They’re the result of a president who governs for his oil and gas donors, not the American people.”
