  • Michigan Voters Deliver Democratic Trifecta, Push for Lower Energy Costs and Clean Energy

    Nov 4, 2026

In response to Michigan voters electing Jocelyn Benson as governor, Eli Savit as attorney general, and Democratic majorities in both chambers of the legislature, Evergreen Action State Senior Regional Director Courtney Brady released the following statement:

“Energy costs were on the ballot in Michigan, and voters chose a government ready to bring them down. With Jocelyn Benson set to lead the state, pro-clean energy majorities in both the House and Senate, and Eli Savit as attorney general, Michigan has a chance for a unified government that can turn campaign platforms into law. This result shows that voters want leaders who will take rising electricity bills head-on, and that clean energy is part of the solution.

“Michiganders have watched their bills climb while new data centers and monopoly utilities threaten to add even more pressure. With new pro-clean energy leadership across state government, Michigan has an opportunity to protect families from rising data center costs, hold utilities accountable, and accelerate the deployment of affordable clean energy. We are ready to support the governor-elect, legislators, and attorney general as they get to work, and we will keep pushing for results households can see on their monthly bills.”
